Yangwang U7 Launches in China with 1,287 HP and a Starting Price of $86,500

First premium sedan under the Yangwang brand, the Yangwang U7, was introduced by BYD to the Chinese market on March 27. It costs between 628,000 and 708,000 yuan (86,500 and 98,000 USD) and comes in 4- and 5-seater configurations, as well as EV and PHEV versions. The new vehicle has four electric motors, the e4 (Yisifang) platform, the automaker’s DiSus-Z suspension system, and “God’s Eye,” an advanced driving aid system.
There are four exterior paint options
The PHEV has a wheelbase of 3200 mm and dimensions of 5360/2000/1515 mm, while the EV model has dimensions of 5265/1998/1517 mm and 3160 mm.
It has a drag coefficient of just 0.195CV.
With the “God’s Eye” attached The Yangwang U7 is a sophisticated driving assistance system that uses 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 13 high-definition cameras, and three ultra-long-range lidars to attain L2+ capabilities without the need for high-precision maps.
With four electric motors from the e4 platform, the EV variant has a total system power of 960 kW (1,287 hp), a total torque of 1,680 Nm, an acceleration time of 2.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, and a top speed of 270 km/h. These motors are paired with 135.5 kWh BYD Blade batteries, which give the vehicle a CLTC range of 720 km. The DC dual-gun fast charging system, which has a maximum output of 500 kW, takes 20 minutes to recharge from 30% to 80%.
In addition to the four electric motors, the PHEV model is powered by a second 2.0T engine and 52.4 kWh BYD Blade batteries. It has a 60 L gasoline tank, a 200 km pure electric range, and a 1,000 km comprehensive range. It takes 10 minutes to recharge from 30% to 80% while using DC single-gun rapid charging, which has a maximum output of 230 kW.
It’s interesting to note that the U7’s 2.0T ICE is China’s first horizontally opposed engine, sometimes referred to as a boxer or flat engine.
The e4 platform also allows tank turn, parallel lateral movement, and two-way 20° intelligent rear-wheel steering. 4.85 meters is the minimum turning radius. In addition, the DiSus-Z suspension system uses a magnetic suspension motor in place of the conventional hydraulic shock absorber. Alongside the e4, the Yangwang U7 also has features like emergency obstacle avoidance, high-speed tire blowout stability, and suspension parameter modifications dependent on road conditions.
The technology raises the impacted wheel when it detects a flat tire, enabling the other three wheels to move freely. This allows the car to travel up to 30 km at 80 km/h.
The Disus-Z fully electronic vertical body control system detects road conditions half a second ahead of time using lidar and camera data. This enables the suspension to automatically modify the height and damping of the car for a more comfortable ride.
The interior has Nappa leather, carbon fiber, and real wood door trims, all of which follow the Yangwang U8’s “Star Ring Cockpit” design idea. The next generation DiLink 150 smart cockpit system, which is powered by a DiLink 4-nanometer cockpit chip and coupled with the DeepSeek R1 model to achieve AI voice assistant functionality, is positioned in the middle of a 12.8-inch OLED curved screen. Twenty-three Dynaudio speakers provide the sound system.
A digital rearview mirror, a driver monitoring camera, a cockpit monitoring camera, two 12.8-inch rear multimedia screens, a 23.6-inch instrument panel, an AR-HUD, and a 6-inch copilot entertainment screen are all included. In addition, the front chairs provide 20-degree adjustment, heating, ventilation, and hot stone massage features. Additionally, the four-seat model has separate back seats with electric leg supports.
