WhatsApp announced today that it is adding several additional formatting options to the app, such as inline code, numbered lists, block quotes, and bulleted lists.
According to the firm, users may access these formatting tools on iOS, Android, the web, and Mac platforms. These features can be fully utilized not just for group and one-on-one chats, but also for the Channels broadcast feature.
You can make advantage of these features as follows:
Bulleted lists: Type the “-” symbol and a space to begin a bulleted list.
Lists with numbers: To make a numbered list, enter a number, followed by a period, and then a space. As an illustration, consider “1.”
Block quotes: Type “>” followed by a space to insert block quotes that highlight specific text.
Inline Code: To make a section of code stand out, enclose it in double quotes (“~”).
Basic text style options in WhatsApp already include Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, and Monospace. Users may present content differently with the use of the new functionalities.
With channels, business messaging, and communities, the chat app has increased the number of ways users can communicate. Instead of providing a ton of plaintext, formatting is therefore also required.
In December of last year, Meta launched its AI-powered characters on all US apps. These formatting choices might also make it easier for the AI-powered bots to present responses in an organized manner.
