The auction house expects giant dinosaurs to sell for between 4 1.4 million and 7 1.7 million
The world’s largest known triceratops skeleton is going up for auction.
The Triceratops, known as the “Big John”, will go on sale on October 21 at the Drot Auction House in Paris, according to a press release.
According to the Associated Press, the giant dinosaur fossil is estimated to have sold for between 4 1.4 million (1.2 million euros) and 1.7 million (1.5 million euros).
The outlet reported that dinosaurs will be the focus of the Naturallia auction organized by Alexandre Giquello.

The skull of a single dinosaur is eight and a half feet (2.62 meters) long and six and a half feet (2 meters) wide, Reuters reported.
The world’s largest known triceratops skeleton – known as the “Big John” – will be sold at auction at the Drot Auction House in Paris on October 21st.
The dinosaur’s head is about a third of its entire body, the outlet said.
The first piece of Big John was discovered in 2014 by paleontologists in South Dakota, according to Reuters. They were able to find 60% of his skull – more than 200 bones – with his skull, Reuters reported.
The dinosaur that roamed the earth 66 million years ago got its name from the owner of the land where the bones were found.
In the past, dinosaur bones were sold to most museums, Reuters reported. However, private buyers are becoming more interested in fossils.
“I imagine there are about 10 buyers worldwide for this type of piece.”
