The owners of the Pixel 6 say that their phones are automatically rejecting some incoming calls
Software updates released by Google for its latest flagship phones have caused bizarre issues that are often enough for us to see why Android 12 is so buggy for some phones. Now some Pixel owners have reported that their phones are failing to perform a basic task – the ring rings when an incoming call arrives.
Unlike the problem of suddenly changing notification vibrations without explanation, this is not something we could confirm. However, posts on Reddit (via Android Central and Phone Arena) and Google’s support forum describe issues where some incoming calls are quietly rejected, the caller is sent directly to voicemail.
Their call log indicates that an incoming call was “denied” when, in fact, the phone did not ring and they all claim that they do not have any do not disturb setting or other feature enabled to block the call. A commenter on PhoneArena stated that they have encountered a similar problem with Verizon’s spam filtering, but reports of problems are consistent across carriers.
For problem handlers, Hale Mary doesn’t seem to have a confirmed way to fix the problem beyond the device reset instructions. Reports of problems are coming mainly from owners of Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices, but some owners of older Pixel phones up to 2XL have reported seeing the same thing.
