The PocketBook Verse Pro Color, an e-reader with an E Ink Kaleido 3 screen, is being released by PocketBook. This color screen is intended, among other things, for the exhibition of comic books and has a 4,096 color display capacity. The resolution of the color display and the black and white display differs, as normal. The resolution is 1,072 x 1,448 without colors. This is 563 x 724 with colors, which is much smaller.
Users can read in bed or in the dark without glare thanks to the availability of smart lighting, which allows for manual lighting adjustment with the option for automated lighting change according on the time of day. With its IPX8 certification, the device is easy to use in the bathtub or on the beach. It weighs 182 grams and is 10.8 x 15.6 cm by 0.76 cm in thickness. This indicates that the e-reader is resistant to water and dust.
Books can be listened to as well as read. Six audio formats are supported, and headphones can be connected by Bluetooth 5.4. Additionally, the PocketBook Verse Pro Color has a text-to-speech feature that turns any text file into an audio book. With just two clicks, you can choose between male and female voices with this capability. There are 26 supported languages.
There are 16 GB of inbuilt memory available. Only 25 file formats—including AZW and AZW3—that aren’t copy-protected can be seen. Fast response times are promised by the quad-core processor, and quick data transfer is guaranteed by the dual-band WiFi.
Also, starting in mid-July, the PocketBook Verse Pro Color—which costs EUR 169—will be sold directly from the manufacturer and at some bookstores. It’s still unclear when this will be released in other non-European areas.
