The MTV VMAs’s Best Beauty Looks for 2022

The MTV Video Music Awards red carpet is always a spectacle to behold. This time around, MTV VMAs 2022 attendees didn’t disappoint, embracing bolder, more daring style down to every last beauty detail.

Then there was Lizzo, whose petrol blue pout and trompe l’oeil lip ring heightened the drama of her full-length navy Jean Paul Gaultier gown. The first Brazilian artist to be nominated in the best Latin category, Anitta, offered up a futuristic wet-look bob over her conceptual “heart of Brazil” scarlet gown in the same vein. Then there was Dove Cameron, who completed her gothic ensemble with glossy black nails adorned with roses, inky pigtail plaits, and razor-sharp white eyeliner flicks.

Even though the VMAs frequently focus on shock value, several celebrities expertly leaned into their characteristic looks. While Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé of Blackpink were in perfect harmony with their array of sleek hair looks highlighted by pairs of cool, face-framing wisps, the members of the Italian rock band Mneskin sported matching swoops of jet-black eyeliner. Conan Gray, the vocalist of “Superache,” had brushed-up brows and a cloud of Pre-Raphaelite curls in his hair, making him look ethereal as ever.
