The Fall Guy, starring Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling, had a poor opening weekend in India.
Early estimates have the film’s earnings, which debuted in theatres on Friday, at barely about Rs 50 lakh. Due to this, it surpassed competition from domestic markets to become the highest-earning movie on Friday.
The romantic action comedy starring Ryan and Emily debuted in theaters across the globe on Friday, May 3. This is the first movie that both stars have starred in since “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” had such a successful run at the box office the previous year. Although ‘The Fall Guy’ has not achieved the epic ‘Barbenheimer’ level of box office success, it has allegedly made an estimated $8.7 million from international markets on its opening day and various preview exhibitions.
The movie is reportedly getting ready for a $30 million opening weekend gross. Even studio execs are speculating about an opening weekend gross of $35–40 million. With positive reviews and an 86% rating from reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie may see some increase over the weekend, if Friday’s receipts are any indication.
With a $130 million production budget, the movie has a high price tag despite its tremendous promise. ‘The Fall Guy’ will need to rely mostly on good word-of-mouth and worldwide success to ensure profitability.
