Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin’s bizarre reason for divorcing
Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone and his wife of 25 years have split up after revealing the reason behind their breakup.
The wife’s worst nightmare became a man’s best friend.
According to sources speaking to TMZ, Jennifer Flavin filed for divorce from Sylvester Stallone following a heated argument about their pet rottweiler.
According to reports, Stallone, 76, wanted the dog, named Dwight, for “protection for his family.” Flavin, however, was opposed to the idea of the family getting another dog.
They “fiercely held to their positions” as opposed to making compromises.
Despite not initially seeming to be “marriage-enders,” the damaging dog dispute apparently sparked “an incredibly heated debate that brought up other concerns” in their union.
Unfortunately for both Flavin, 54, and their marriage, the Rocky star won the argument and used the dog to promote his new show, Tulsa King, by naming him after the name of his character.
Stallone’s rep didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
“So incredibly happy with my newly acquired four legged friend ‘DWIGHT’ my characters [sic] name from the Series, keep punching and keep barking !!!” Stallone wrote in an Instagram post earlier this month.
Stallone’s former dog, Butkus, the famous bull-mastiff from the Rocky franchise, may have also been a factor in their marital problems after he covered a large tattoo of his wife’s face with a picture of the late pooch.
Zach Perez, a tattoo artist, revealed the cover-up in an Instagram post from August 16.
Perez removed the slide show from his stream after some admirers questioned whether Flavin approved of the dubious action in comments on the social media post.
Michelle Bega, Stallone’s publicist, later told the Daily Mail that the Oscar nominee “loves his family” and provided an explanation for the revised tattoo.
“Mr. Stallone wanted to update his wife Jennifer’s tattoo design. But the outcomes were disappointing and, regrettably, unrepairable,” she told the publication. He was forced to cover the original image with a tattoo of his dog Butkus from Rocky as a result.
But just days later, on August 19, Flavin filed to dissolve their 25-year marriage in Palm Beach County, Florida.
In the court documents obtained by Page Six, the former model claimed their union is “irretrievably broken”.
Flavin also alleged that her hubby has “engaged in the intentional dissipation, deplete and/or waste of marital assets”.
“I love my family. We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues,” Stallone told the publication.
