Surprising Tricks up its Sleeve: The Moto G Power 5g (2024) is a Budget Phone

There is a much greater variety of smartphones and designs than what you might see portrayed in the media, even while high-end, luxury cellphones receive a lot of attention and potentially sales. Naturally, products with lower prices can be found, but they usually have to make certain feature-related sacrifices. Some, though, occasionally seem to step up to the plate and offer more for less, putting in features and styles that you wouldn’t anticipate given their price ranges. With a few surprising features that might put the new Moto G Power 5G (2024) on people’s maps, it appears to be one of those.

For many years, Motorola’s entry-level product line has been the Moto G. Its family includes a few members that are intended to meet particularly certain demands. As its name implies, the Moto G Power is designed to provide a long battery life—at least longer than the typical smartphone. This phone’s 2024 version is identical, sporting a 5,000 mAh battery that is typically found in more costly devices, but that’s only half of its allure.

Larger batteries typically require longer charging times, therefore having a 30W TurboPower charging function is not only pleasant to have, but absolutely essential. But for convenience, Motorola went above and beyond this year, adding 15W wireless charging. While it may not be the quickest wireless charging technology, consider how many $300 smartphones you can think of that enable wireless charging at all. The Moto G Power 5G (2024) stands out from the crowd right away thanks to this, but it goes beyond only the hardware characteristics.

In an effort to look attractive despite its low price, the new Moto G Power also has a faux leather back. Although, based on Motorola’s marketing brochures, this synthetic leather appears to be classy and understated, it can look tacky at times. Once more, it’s not particularly a novel feature, but it is uncommon in low-cost designs.

However, while it’s not exactly an underdog, the phone’s performance isn’t much to write home about. It has a 50MP primary camera with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2.2GHz MediaTek processor with 8GB of RAM, and, maybe to the joy of audiophiles, a 3.5mm headphone port. Motorola is also releasing the $200 Moto G 5G (2024), which has the same elegant faux leather style but somewhat fewer powerful features and no wireless charging, in case the Moto G Power 5G (2024) is still a little too expensive for you.
