As we are steadily moving towards the digital age everything is going digital. Though there are many boons of the digital age, it has also given birth to a new form of crime – digital crimes. And taking advantage of the technologies, these offenders do not even need to be on the scene to cause damage worth millions in the form of Phishing attacks on their victims. Research shows that the attacks increased by 667% in the COVID period. Since this has become a global issue, today we have Saud Bin Ahmed who is a Sharjah-based Tech Entrepreneur and Influencer to discuss this grave issue.
Saud Bin Ahmed is the founder of Technical Support Company which provides Cyber Security Solutions to some of the most important electronic accounts and websites. He says – Before learning about protection from a phishing attack we need to understand what a phishing attack is. A phishing link ‘calls for action. This may require installing third-party software, or they may simply ask for your login credentials while pretending to be from an official company. But actually, these files are viruses and hence damage your files and steal confidential information. As the most common form of phishing attacks occur via email, I recommend strong cyber security for corporate forms as e-mails are the most common form of formal communication today. Two-fold protection can be done by using inbox defenders as they block the phishing emails that somehow manage to enter your inbox. Another effective way would be to use protective anti-virus software to secure your PC completely.
With an experience of over a decade, Saud himself is a big name in his industry. He was the first Emirati to disseminate the infamous ransomware in 2013 that had tormented the whole world. He has also been a part of the Ministry’s team to curb down fake news and propaganda. And, also worked with the President of Arab Parliament, His Excellency, Ahmed Bin Muhammed Al Jarwan, as a consultant and programmer for his website in 2011
