Rivian Vehicles Can Use Tesla Chargers
Owners of Rivians can now plug in at Telsa Superchargers to charge
The Tesla network has reportedly been “fully integrated into Rivian’s mobile app and in-vehicle trip planner,” according to the business. Instead of having to register for a new network in order to use a charger, owners may just plug in and charge.
To use a Supercharger, owners of Rivian vehicles must have an adaptor. According to the corporation, free shipment will start for owners this spring. Many sites on the internet sell adapters for those who are ready to get started right away.
Rivian automobiles will ship from the factory in 2025 with hardware that supports Tesla’s NACS charging connector.
Industry Is Finally Uniting Around A Single Plug
The fact that not every EV can be charged from every charger has impeded the adoption of EVs. Currently, EV builders charge their devices using a variety of connectors and cables.
dubbed the North American Charging Standard (NACS), Tesla has its own. The Combined Charging System (CCS) is a second that is used by the majority of other automakers. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Due to this, EV drivers may find themselves low on range and searching for the specific type of charger that is compatible with their vehicle.
Finally, last year, almost all EV builders agreed to adopt the Tesla standard, bringing the industry to a single port and cord. Since millions of EVs are now on the road and have the CCS port, that will take some time. Starting next year, the majority of automakers intend to integrate Tesla hardware directly into their vehicles and distribute adapters to owners to address that issue.
