With the launch of the all-wheel-drive Macan 4S and the rear-wheel-drive Macan, Porsche is expanding its range of electric SUVs. Additionally, an optional off-road design kit is now available for all trims of Porsche, catering to customers who desire a little more terra firma from their vehicle.
The base Macan has a single rear-mounted electric motor that can provide 335 horsepower (250 kW / 340 PS) or up to 355 horsepower (265 kW / 360 PS) with an overboost capable of producing 415 lb.-ft (563 Nm) of torque. The least powerful electric Macan can reach a top speed of 136 mph (219 km/h) and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 5.4 seconds.
As expected, the first RWD SUV model weighs 243 pounds (110 kg) less than the Macan 4, making it the lightest vehicle in the lineup. Despite the fact that Porsche has not yet released the EPA numbers, this indicates that it is also the most efficient and may have the longest range possible with the typical 100 kWh battery pack.
The 800-volt PPE architecture, shared by all electric Porsche Macan models, allows DC charging up to 270 kW, meaning that a battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes.
A brand-new Macan EV 4S with 509 horsepower
The more potent Macan 4S, which fills the void left by the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, is the next model in the lineup. It has two electric motors that together produce 442 horsepower (330 kW / 449 PS), or 509 horsepower (380 kW / 517 PS), and 578 pound-feet (784 Nm) of torque when used in overboost mode.
With this setup, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (0 to 97 km/h) in under 3.9 seconds, which is 0.8 seconds slower than the Macan Turbo and 1 second faster than the Macan 4. An electronic limiter sets the maximum speed at 149 mph (240 km/h).
Both the Macan and the Macan 4S come equipped with electronically controlled dampers (PASM) and adaptive air suspension as standard, with the option of rear-axle steering. The electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management system, which has the possibility to interface with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, is another feature of the AWD Macan 4S.
The first US delivery of the new variations are anticipated in the fourth quarter of the year, and they are currently available for purchase. Porsche Macan entry-level models start at $75,300, while Macan 4S models are priced at $84,900. Please take note that the prices listed above do not include dealer fees, taxes, registration, or a $1,995 delivery cost.

A Novel Off-Road Styling Bundle
Porsche has added an optional off-road design package to the lineup of powertrain options for the electric Macan, which is available for all trim levels. For those who intend to drive the SUV off-road, in particular, this package promises to improve its everyday usefulness while enhancing its tough and adventurous appeal.
A revised front bumper with matching side skirt and diffuser features is part of the package. As seen in the press images, skid plates come in body color or a striking Vesuvius Grey. Along with new five-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels dressed in matching Vesuvius Grey, it also has a body package available.
The most significant change is that the off-road design package raises the air suspension by 10 mm (0.4 inches), raising ground clearance to 7.6 inches (195 mm) at the standard setting and 8.8 inches (225 mm) at the highest setting. The maximum approach angle of 17.5 degrees, when paired with the slightly modified front bumper, further lowers the possibility of scraping the Macan’s underbody.
Putting aside the new package, Porsche has given the Macan EV more customization choices. These include the addition of 20-inch Macan S alloy wheels and the new Slate Grey Neo color option in the palette.
Lastly, fresh screen animations and images have been added to the Porsche Driver Experience digital cockpit. Drivers can customize the ambient lighting and display backdrop color to the vehicle’s exterior tone by using the new Themes program.
