NFA, Ghana’s Partnership with Pixel Ray Studio to Bring New Opportunities for African Cinema

When it comes to arts and entertainment, Ghanaians have always collaborated with the aim of creating a better cinematic ecosystem for the people. Indeed, Ghana’s setting makes it a prime location for movie production in Africa. The country has all that is needed to drive into motion an outstanding environment in terms of movies. With this backdrop therefore, a new proposal on building world-class film studios in Ghana has been put forth by Pixel Ray Studio LLC and The National Film Authority which has caused a great excitement for the filmmakers as an agreement has been made for the plans to be executed soonest.

Pixel Ray Studios is an African multimedia and content company focusing on uniting entertainment in the best way by providing high-quality productions like films, shows, and games from a unique perspective through innovative filmmaking. By doing so, it is focused on building the first black-owned movie production franchise in Africa.

Ghana is hoping to position itself as the gateway for African Cinema – and with the signing of this historic partnership between NFA,Ghana and Pixel Ray Studios, there’s huge potential for bridging the gap between Africa and film culture at large. The partnership will serve two primary purposes: further solidify Ghana’s position as a leader in film-development & production, and provide job opportunities for local talent – creating 11,000 new jobs in the area.

Ghana is known for its beautiful scenery, which makes it an ideal place to film both movies and promotional videos. A board member says, “Ghana’s film and television industry has been on the rise for the past 10 years. As one of Africa’s largest industries in terms of turnover, we cannot afford to let our country become a second-rate destination for filming. The government will give support where necessary.”

Just as the filming is a major step in the production of a movie, post-production work is also an important finalization on which the quality of a film depends. Due to Ghana’s low cost and high competency in the film industry and the new partnership in development, it will surely form a strong base in post-production services. The same setup that brings clients from around other parts of Africa will also be able to bring filmmakers from around the world.

The Ghanaian expansion of Pixel Ray Studios will just be another gem in its crown as it is known for its expertise in production, distribution, and entertainment. Pixel Ray founders include entertainment entrepreneur Audu Maikori, ESQ (Founder, Chocolate City Group), Franklin “Twizz” David (Chairman, Twizz Talent Management), and Ojoma Ochai (Managing Partner of The Creative Economy Practice at CcHUB). Esteemed Pixel Ray Board members include Oronde Garett (Partner at M88), Tamara Houston (ICONN Man) and Content and Catalogue Executive Fotemah Mbah
