New Ford Expedition Features Adds Half of Lincoln’s Panoramic Screen and Android Automotive

The largest SUV in Ford’s portfolio is getting a facelift that comes equipped with the company’s brand-new Digital Experience infotainment system. Following the new Explorer, the 2025 Expedition is the second Ford vehicle to use the Android Automotive system; nevertheless, the new SUV’s dashboard and user interface appear to be a scaled-down version of the enormous panoramic display that was first shown in the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus.

In front of the driver’s seat, the identical instrument panel and navigation system are available, but the widgets that are found on the right half of the Lincoln’s expanded screen are absent. Like the Lincoln, the smaller center touchscreen on the Expedition is located below it and is used to operate Apple CarPlay, run apps from the Google Play Store, and control the HVAC system digitally. The car also provides both Google Assistant and Alexa voice assistants (one at a time), and some variants enable BlueCruise hands-free driving.

Recently, automakers have started to use pillar-to-pillar panoramic screens as a showpiece feature for their most opulent cars. They’ve frequently been marketed as the front passenger’s infotainment center, offering PlayStation games and streaming video streaming.

Ford offers both an extended “Max” Expedition and an Expedition with a conventional wheelbase. Bench seats or captain chairs are available in the center row; passengers in the center row can also use the clamps on the backs of the first-row headrests to hold their tablets or smartphones. If benches are used, the Expedition can accommodate up to eight passengers.

With its split back gate, a light bar up front, and a 3.5-liter V6 engine under the hood, the Expedition initially looks like a carbon clone of the new Lincoln Navigator. It’s the Ford version of the “EcoBoost.” For increased off-road capability, the Expedition’s new Tremor variant offers up to 440 horsepower, a modified suspension, and special trail modes. Ford does not provide a hybrid powertrain option for the Expedition, just like it does not for the Navigator.
