SpaceX Crew-10 Mission: Two NASA astronauts who have been stranded aboard the ISS since June 6 will be sent home Friday via SpaceX’s Crew-10 spacecraft. When they finally return to Earth after nearly nine months, this is regarded as a significant step.
The mission to save Suni Williams and Barry Butch Wilmore was supposed to take off on Wednesday, but a hydraulic ground problem stopped it minutes before departure.
Four scientists were also dispatched to the ISS by the government as part of the mission: Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Takuya Onishi, and NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers.
What time will Wilmore and Williams be back on Earth?
On Saturday, Crew-10 is scheduled to reach the space station around 11:30 p.m.
At the space station, Crew-9 and Crew-10 astronauts will spend a few days together. Ms. Williams and Mr. Wilmore, along with NASA’s Nick Hague and Alexander Gorbunov, the two astronauts who arrived with Crew-9, will board their spacecraft and return home approximately four days after Crew-10 launches, possibly as early as March 19.
If the weather at the potential splashdown locations off the Florida coast is unfavorable, their stay can be prolonged once more.
