If you want to believe the list of early retailers in Korea, Microsoft is ready to announce an updated version of its compact Surface laptop Go.
The biggest change with the Surface Laptop Go2 is seen in its new 11th-Gen Intel CPU (i5-1135G7), which replaces the 10th-Gen model found in the original 2020 laptops. The Go 2 will be shipped with Windows 11 this time around, and Google’s translation of the retailer’s page states that its webcam will have “improved HD camera performance.” Preorder is set to open on June 2, so the official announcement may not be far off. WinFuture previously reported that the starting price of a laptop could be $ 650.
Otherwise, the new laptop will look just like its predecessor. It still has a 12.4-inch display with a 3: 2 ratio, the same choice of ports (USB-A, USB-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a port for a Microsoft-owned charger), and a fingerprint sensor. Still included in the power button on select models. There is no sign of the backlit keyboard, which was unfortunately omitted on the first laptop Go.
The retailer’s list indicates that it will be available with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the same as last time, but it is less clear what the features of its base-level model will be. The original Surface Laptop Go started with 4GB / 64GB, but previous reports from WinFuture suggest that this version could start with 128GB storage. According to the retailer’s list, the Laptop Go2 is rated for 13.5 hours per charge.
The Surface Laptop Go is sold as an affordable entry into Microsoft’s Surface Laptop lineup and is designed to compete with the popular Chromebooks among students. But we were less impressed by the original model, which offered limited specs and features at an unrivaled price.
