Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 Luxury EV Launch Date Confirmed In India: Details

The redesigned Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe and Mercedes CLE Cabriolet were introduced to the Indian market by Mercedes-Benz India today. In addition to the launch, the business disclosed that on September 5, 2024, it will introduce the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 luxury electric vehicle to the Indian market. It is anticipated that the EV will start to cost more than Rs 4 crores (ex-showroom).

The Mercedes EQS 680 will be the priciest EV available in India when it is introduced.

Mercedes-Maybach’s first electric vehicle (EV) is the EQS 680, which debuted globally in April 2023. The Maybach EQS retails with the same design that is derived from the normal EQS SUV. It looks more upscale and opulent than the ordinary model and receives the full Maybach treatment.

The luxury electric vehicle has a distinctive two-tone paint scheme that is enhanced with a hand-painted pinstripe. Globally, there are five alternatives for two-tone color combinations: velvet brown/onyx black, obsidian black/selenite grey, obsidian black/Kalahari gold, and high-tech silver/obsidian black. Which color Mercedes-Benz will sell in India is still up in the air. Numerous vertical lines plated in chrome are displayed on the SUV’s black panel, which is evocative of the Maybach grille seen on vehicles such as the GLS 600 and S 680 sedan.

The three-pointed star logo, which is visible on other Maybach models, is mounted on the bonnet, the windows have chrome surrounds, and a Maybach symbol is mounted on the D-pillar.

Inside, the arrangement is essentially the same as that of a regular EV, but it once more has some Maybach components to add to the opulence. Accompanying it is the ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’ infotainment system, customized with Maybach-only themes and color palettes. The MBUX rear tablet, which can be used both inside and outside the car, two 11.6-inch displays for rear passengers, rear executive seats with ventilation, massage functions, and heating for the neck and shoulders, and MBUX Interior Assist, which uses cameras to recognize passenger gestures, are among the standard features.

A Chauffeur package, which folds the front passenger seat to allow the rear seat passenger to stretch out, two climate-controlled cup holders, a redesigned center console extension that can hold two folding tables, a cooling compartment, and silver-plated champagne goblets are among the extra features that customers can choose.

When it comes to the battery and electric motors, the EV is propelled by a 108 kWh battery pack and two electric motors that together produce 950 Nm of torque and 649 horsepower of power. The EV has a top speed of 210 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 4.4 seconds. With a 22 kW onboard AC charger that can fully charge the SUV in 6 hours and 15 minutes, the EV is said to have a 600 km range on a full charge. Additionally, a 200 kW DC fast charger can be used to charge it.

Airmatic air suspension, which can lift the SUV by up to 35 mm and has constantly adjustable damping, is standard on the EQS 680. Rear-axle steering is also included, with a maximum angle of 4.5 degrees. Additionally, it has several drive modes, including Eco, Sport, Offroad, Individual, and a special “Maybach” mode that reduces movement of the body behind the rear seats and is designed for maximum comfort for the back passenger.
