The next Mercedes-Benz EV entry-level model, known as the “one-liter car” due to its extended driving range, was eventually spotted in the wild. The electric Mercedes CLA was seen testing close to the Arctic Circle in a recent video.
A Look at the “One-Liter” EV
In September, Mercedes debuted the electric CLA Concept, the first vehicle in a new line of low-cost EVs.
Based on Mercedes’ next-generation MMA platform, the EV is anticipated to have a driving range of more than 466 miles (750 km). The electric CLA concept, sometimes known as the “one-liter car,” uses about 5.2 miles per kWh (12 kWh per 100 kilometers) of energy.
The highly efficient Vision EQXX, which recently finished a 627-mile (1,010-kilometer) journey across the Arabian Desert with almost 200 miles (309 km) of remaining range, is the basis for Mercedes’ MMA platform.
As the first Mercedes EV to operate on an 800V system, the electric CLA will allow for quick charging of up to 248 miles (400 km) in 15 minutes.
The new CLA EV, according to Mercedes, “marks a new era” for the progression of the brand’s design. The car is a contemporary interpretation of Mercedes’ iconic design, with innovative features that have made them “icons in their own right.”
The proposal “reinterprets iconic elements of the brand’s rich design heritage to craft a whole new face of Mercedes-Benz,” according to Gorden Wagener, head designer of the Mercedes-Benz Group.
Winter testing of the new Mercedes entry-level CLA EV was observed.
The new electric Mercedes CLA has been discovered winter testing close to the Arctic Circle, so we are finally getting a look at it.
The CLA EV concept is shown in further detail in the CarSpyMedia video, which also shows off the electric vehicle’s svelte lines and passing profile.
The new seamless grille panel and shark-nose design are visible through the camouflage.
The “digital brain” of the car, Mercedes’ new OS (MB.OS), is anticipated to be installed within the entry-level EV. Artificial Intelligence and machine learning will power any vehicle built on the MMA platform.
The MB.OS software is “generally ready,” according to Mercedes, for an upgrade to SAE Level 3 autonomy.
