Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed Speedster Debuts with F1 Technology and Other Features

The PureSpeed speedster, the first model in Mercedes-AMG’s special Mythos series, is designed for the pickiest collectors. The PureSpeed, which was previously shown as a near-production concept in May 2024, now comes with a lot more detail and very few alterations. There will only be 250 of these speedsters made worldwide, making it one of the most sought-after items among fans.

Design of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed

The Mercedes PureSpeed and the AMG SL 63 4Matic have similar core architectures, however the Mercedes PureSpeed has certain unique design features. The PureSpeed has a more aggressive and aerodynamic design language, but maintaining the SL’s basic proportions. The PureSpeed has a shark-nose face with side vents and a central air vent with AMG branding in place of the conventional AMG Panamericana grille.

The PureSpeed speedster’s roofless design, however, is its primary differentiator. The PureSpeed replaces the windscreen and A-pillar seen on the SL 63 with a wind deflector and an F1-style Halo safety feature that runs across the cabin. The cockpit is protected from bad weather by a retractable cover that clamps onto the fenders.

The PureSpeed’s enlarged deck and prominent rear end, which house the rollover bars, give it a noticeable appearance in the back. To increase its sportiness, the rigid two-seater does away with the SL’s 2+2 setup.

Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed: Features and specifications

The Mercedes PureSpeed is propelled by the AMG SL 63’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It generates 577 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque when paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and completely variable all-wheel drive. The PureSpeed can reach a high speed of 315 kmph, which is the same as the SL 63, and accelerate from a stop to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds, according to reports.

Furthermore, the PureSpeed compensates for its lack of a roof by using active flaps and superior aerodynamics to generate downforce. Rear-axle steering, semi-active roll control, AMG adaptive suspension, and a front axle lift system for increased ground clearance are standard features. It is equipped with composite disc brakes that include single-piston callipers at the back and six-piston callipers up front.

Cabin of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed

With a tiltable portrait-oriented screen and a lot of leather and carbon fiber accents, the PureSpeed’s interior design is reminiscent of the AMG SL. The dashboard also features the distinctive IWC Schaffhausen clock.

Every vehicle has helmets and an intercom system that allows passengers to communicate with one another. These systems can also connect to smartphones to play music and make calls. A 1170 W Burmester 3D sound system is also included with the PureSpeed.
