The Formula One DNA-equipped new supercar McLaren, a British sportscar manufacturer, was unveiled. The McLaren W1 is a hybrid supercar that was released for $2.1 million, or more than 17.65 crore. It draws inspiration from the automaker’s extensive experience in Formula One and incorporates cutting-edge technology.
On October 6th, the 50th anniversary of Emerson Fittipaldi’s victory in the 1974 driver’s championship and the first F1 constructor’s championship, W1 was presented. There will only be 399 W1 cars produced, and each one will be assigned to a specific buyer. The first deliveries will occur in 2026.
McLaren W1: Cockpit and design
Like other McLaren supercars, the McLaren W1 has an aggressive yet elegant design. The automobile has a lot of carbon fiber components and 3D printed parts, which increase the car’s strength and reduce its weight. The supercar’s interior has an instrument cluster and steering wheel that are both visible from the Formula One-inspired layout. It also features a lot of extremely high-quality materials.
McLaren W1: Powertrain
The McLaren P1 is replaced by the McLaren W1. This new supercar is powered by a hybrid drivetrain that combines an electric motor and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. Peak power output from the hybrid drivetrain is an incredible 1,275 bhp, and maximum torque of 1,343 Nm.
It’s interesting to note that McLaren began producing hybrid vehicles with the P1, not the W1. The electric motor in the W1 is powered by a 1.38 kWh battery, and according to McLaren, the hybrid parts of the vehicle weigh less while producing twice as much power.
The McLaren W1 is capable of reaching a high speed of 350 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.7 seconds. All of the W1’s power is sent to the back wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. Removing the all-wheel drive reduces weight and enhances the car’s steering feel. The W1 can accelerate from 0 to 200 kmph in 5.8 seconds and from 0 to 300 kmph in 12.7 seconds, making it the fastest road-legal McLaren vehicle ever.
