In 2025, Freddy Fazbear is coming back to torment multiplexes.
On December 5, 2025, Universal and Blumhouse present “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” a horror sequel that takes place in the eerie Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a place reminiscent to Chuck E. Cheese.
A number of Blumhouse films, notably “The Woman in the Yard” (released on March 28, 2025) and “Drop” (released on April 11, 2025), have been added to Universal’s release schedule. The company also moved the release dates of two more highly anticipated sequels: “The Black Phone 2” from June 27, 2025 to October 17, 2025, and “M3GAN 2.0” from May 16, 2025 to June 27, 2025.
The highly successful video game adaptation “Five Nights at Freddy’s” became Blumhouse’s highest-earning film ever in October of last year, generating $297 million worldwide, all while being concurrently streamed on Peacock. In the original, Josh Hutcherson played a midnight security guard at Freddy’s Fazbear’s Pizza, where the animatronic mascots have a murderous streak. The studio revealed the new tagline, “Anyone can survive five nights,” but it hasn’t said who will be back for the sequel. There won’t be any second chances this time.
Model 3 Generative Android, or “M3GAN,” was another Blumhouse sleeper hit that brought in $180 million worldwide in 2022. Although the sequel’s plot hasn’t been disclosed, Allison Williams, whose character assisted in creating the campy, chaotic AI-like doll, and Violet McGraw’s M3GAN’s little best friend will both return in “2.0.” The reason for the movie’s delay is unknown.
Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora will all return in “The Black Phone 2.” The director of the 2022 movie, which took in over $160 million worldwide, is none other than Scott Derrickson, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside C. Robert Cargill. However, Hawke played a masked serial murderer who abducts and tortures a teenage boy in the first movie.
Despite the impression that Blumhouse only makes sequels, the horror conglomerate has two original thrillers planned for 2025. Danielle Deadwyler, Russell Horsby, Okwui Okpokwasili, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha are the stars of “The Woman in the Yard.” The screenplay was written by Sam Stefanak and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra of “Black Adam,” although the movie’s logline is still unknown.
“Drop,” a “fast-paced thriller with a chilling plot,” is the creation of Blumhouse founder Jason Blum and producer Michael Bay. The film, which stars Meghann Fahy, Brandon Sklenar, Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, and Ed Weeks, is being directed by Christopher Landon (“Freaky”).
