Leak Reveals Massive Redesign for iPhone 16: What’s New?
This fall, when Apple introduces its new crop of iPhones, fans may be in for a disappointing surprise. Many websites, such as 91 Mobiles and MacRumors, as well as unaffiliated sources, have purportedly provided CAD-based renders of the whole iPhone 16 range in recent weeks.
Apple appears to be showing more love for its entry-level models in 2024, as evidenced by a minor redesign of the rear shell. According to leaks, the iPhone 16—and probably its Plus version as well—will get a pill-shaped facelift for the camera island. For the 16 Pro and Pro Max variants, additional modifications are mentioned. Let’s get started since there is a lot to cover.
The All-New iPhone 16 Design
Get diagonally aligned camera lenses on top of a rather square glass hump with the new iPhone 15 pair. According to reports, Apple plans to replace it in the next iterations with a vertical camera island that resembles a pill, mimicking the design of the iPhone X.
It’s likely that the remainder of the device profile won’t change. The physical button arrangement and full-screen aesthetics, which are highlighted by the Face ID cutout, are here to stay. Although there isn’t much reliable information available, the A17 series is anticipated to include a new silicon along with some small camera improvements.
It might be a significant design change for Apple, and it will undoubtedly make the iPhone 16 seem better than the iPhone 15 did. But is this a shift for the better?
It’s a good idea to pay homage to the iPhone X, especially because Apple has been using the same somewhat square-shaped camera bump since the iPhone 11 series. For what that’s worth, it would also make the iPhone 16 look more different from the iPhone 16 Pro.
Changes to the iPhone 16 Pro
It appears that Apple is happy with the update it released for the iPhone 15 Pro duo when it comes to the iPhone 16 Pro models. The addition of a button beneath the power button on the right edge of the phone will be the only noticeable modification. There won’t be a physical button, according to reports.
Rather of protruding above the phone’s frame, this new button may potentially include capacitive sensors beneath it. There are rumors that it will function similarly to the shutter button on a camera and that it may be customized, much like the Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro pair. It’s wonderful to see a feature that was made famous by the Lumia and Xperia phones return!
Apple is also moving the antenna to the opposite side in order to make room for this new button. Titanium will once more be used to create the high-end iPhones, but we may see the release of a new color known as “White Titanium” within the company.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is presently the only device that has the tetraprism 5x telephoto zoom feature, which will also be available for the smaller “Pro” model in 2024. We may see Apple take a cue from Samsung and equip the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a 10x zoom camera.
It appears that some of the internal improvements will also have an impact on the overall size. The iPhone 15 Pro, according to 91Mobiles, will measure 149.6 by 71.4 by 8.4 mm, making it taller, broader, and thicker than its predecessor. If not, Apple’s aesthetic profile will remain unchanged from when it debuted the iPhone 11 Pro series.
