India is now the home of the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono. The new motorcycle with a single cylinder costs 16,50 lakh (ex-showroom). The more sporty RVE variant will be released later; initially, just the regular version is offered. Orders can be placed at any time, with delivery starting at the end of July.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono’s potent engine is its central component. The Superquadro Mono, a 659cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, is said to be the most potent of its type worldwide. Along with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch for a smooth ride, it generates 77.5 horsepower and 63 Nm of torque. There is also an optional quickshifter for those who desire an even sportier choice.
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono’s design incorporates features from the Ducati Hypermotard 950, its larger sibling. Reminiscent of the larger model are the integrated tail section, the slim fuel tank, and the crisp LED headlight with a noticeable beak. One defining characteristic of the Hypermotard is still the twin exhaust pipes under the tail.
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is built on a steel trellis frame that is joined to an aluminum swingarm and a steel-tube subframe. Sachs monoshock provides maximum control and comfort at the back, while an adjustable Marzocchi USD fork at the front handles suspension tasks with precision. Brembo M4.32 callipers gripping 330mm discs up front provide the braking power.
Control and safety are improved with a full complement of rider aids. In addition to benefiting from traction and wheelie control systems, riders may pick from three power modes, four ride modes to suit riding situations, and cornering ABS for optimal braking in bends. There’s also a 3.8-inch LCD instrument cluster available for convenient monitoring and adjusting.
