Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills narrowly defeated Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens to win the 2024 NFL MVP award. The total number of votes? Allen: 383 points. Jackson scored 362 points.
Jackson received 23 first-place votes, while Allen received 27. Allen is receiving his first MVP honor.
In 21 seasons, Allen is the first player to win MVP without being chosen for the first team All-Pro. The only other players to win MVP since it was first given out in 1957 were quarterbacks Steve McNair (2003, Peyton Manning) of the Titans and John Elway of the Broncos (1987, when Joe Montana was a first-team All-Pro).
Allen finished the season with 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns as a passer, but he also ran for 531 yards and 13 scores. Additionally, he concluded with a 77.3 QBR, which was both the league’s best and his own best ever, while keeping his interceptions remarkably low—just six in all—when compared to previous years. The team finished 13–4 overall thanks to his performance.
