An influx of new contenders climbing from middleweight to light heavyweight has given Jon Jones a huge number of potential opponents, yet he’s not perspiring any of them taking the title from him.
The most recent model is previous UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, who is moving to light heavyweight for his up and coming battle against Dominick Reyes at the UFC Fight Night card from Boston on Oct. 18.
During an ongoing meeting with Submission Radio in front of his 205-pound debut, Weidman said that Jones has demonstrated a great deal of “holes” in his game as of late while including that he “always believed there’s a blueprint to beat him.”
It’s safe to state, Weidman’s remarks at long last returned to Jones, who shot his answer by means of Instagram while laughing at the previous middleweight champion’s cases.
“Yo, I’m just checking the news, somebody tell Chris Weidman he don’t want to fight me. Hey Chris, stop,” Jones wrote.
“Be careful with that target you’re staring at on my back, it just might bite you in the ass.”
Before he can even consider Jones or the light heavyweight title, Weidman first needs to figure out how to move beyond Reyes, who comes into their battle with an undefeated record and a five-battle win streak in the UFC.
Reyes has for quite some time been touted as a prospect with the possibility to one day challenge for the light heavyweight title so Weidman isn’t getting a go for his first battle in the division.
Weidman will participate in the challenge with a 1-4 imprint in his previous five contests, including a knockout endured to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in his last excursion in Nov. 2018.
