Jane Fonda says she has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
The 84-year-old actor sent a message on social media that read, “So, my dear friends, I have something personal I want to share.”
“I’ve been given a non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s diagnosis and have started receiving chemotherapy,”
“I feel really lucky because this cancer is very treatable.”
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the body’s immune system and develops in white blood cells.
Fonda noted that she is fortunate to have health insurance and access to the greatest medical professionals, unlike many people in the United States.
Nearly every family in America has experienced cancer at some point, and far too many do not have access to the high-quality medical treatment I do. This is wrong, she said.
The six-month course of chemotherapy, according to Fonda, is going well, and she won’t let it stop her from being an activist for the environment.
Fonda has already faced with cancer. She battled skin cancer in the past and had a tumour removed from her breast in 2010.
Fonda, who comes from a well-known Hollywood family, rose to stardom in the late 1960s for both her activism and her acting.
She received Oscars for her roles in the 1978 film Coming Home and the 1971 film Klute.
Additionally, she has appeared in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie as well as the movies Barbarella and 9 to 5.
