A low of minus 7.0 degrees Celsius was reported on Sunday. Gulmarg, a popular tourist destination in north Kashmir, was covered in several feet of snow and featured breathtaking drone footage. Over the previous 72 hours, temperatures had dropped to several degrees below freezing point.
Due to the snowfall, all flights from Srinagar airport have been canceled for the day.
The slick roads contribute to the delayed traffic flow. Roads are being cleared of snow by authorities to allow for traffic flow.
Renowned for its captivating scenery, Gulmarg is a well-liked ski resort that welcomes visitors from all over the globe.
“We have loads and loads of snow. We’re just enjoying it, it’s amazing and we are expecting some more snow. So come to Gulmarg and enjoy skiing. It’s an amazing sport for physical fitness–for the legs, core and everything else. It’s a wonderful sport. I encourage all of you to come and ski,” a tourist told news.
According to officials, there was modest snowfall in Kashmir’s plains, while there has been considerable snowfall in the upper regions.
For the next 24 hours, residents in Kashmir’s hilly and mountainous districts are advised to refrain from making needless movements due to avalanche warnings issued by authorities.
The 40-day worst winter season, known as “Chilla-i-Kalan,” ended earlier this week, but the chilly snap has persisted in Kashmir.
