In India, BMW Unveiled The R 12 And R 12 nineT

In the Indian market, BMW Motorrad India has introduced the new R 12 and R 12 nineT models. The costs are 19.90 lakh and 20.90 lakh, respectively. Prices listed are ex-showroom. Deliveries of the fully built-up units (CBU) of both motorcycles will start in September 2024, according to BMW Motorrad.

Both of the motorcycles have undergone some major mechanical and cosmetic modifications. A single-piece tubular bridge steel spaceframe with a connected rear frame is now standard on the newest motorcycles. The motorcycles now weigh less and have a more streamlined appearance thanks to this redesigned frame. The airbox has also been able to expand thanks to the new frame, and it is now located under the seat.

Both bikes have a frame that is held up by front inverted forks and a rear monoshock that is fastened to a single-sided swingarm. The R 12 nineT has a Paralever swinging arm at the back and fully adjustable front forks. Braking is accomplished by means of a single disc at the back and twin 320-disc brakes up front with 4-piston monobloc brake calipers. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is also included.

R 12 nineT and R 12: Specifications

A 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled boxer engine powers the R 12 nineT and R 12. In the R 12 nineT, it produces 107 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque output of 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm; in the R 12, it produces 93 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 110 Nm at 6,000 rpm. On the left side, the twin exhaust system is now installed.

Features of the BMW R 12 nineT and R 12

Both motorcycles come with three riding modes as standard. They’re called Road, Rain, and Dynamic. The R 12 nineT further has Rock and Roll mode. In addition, BMW Motorrad provides standard USB-C and 12 V sockets, Dynamic Traction Control, engine drag torque control, keyless ride, and new classic round instruments.

BMW R 12 nineT and R 12: Optional packages

A few additional packages are also available from BMW Motorrad. Hill Start Control Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, heated grips, and cruise control are all included in the Comfort package. The “Aluminum” Style Option 719 is the next. Along with a single-piece seat, it has a Racing Red frame with dark accents. The Option 719 Style Avus Silver is the last one. It features dark accents and metallic painting. The Option 719 seat featuring gold-colored stitching and the Design Option exhaust system are also available.
