The electric vehicle market in India is expected to increase significantly in the upcoming years. Maruti Suzuki intends to join the market for mid-size electric SUVs.
1. Maruti Suzuki eVX
Early in2025, the business plans to introduce the eVX, its first electric SUV. At Suzuki’s Gujarati manufacturing plant, Maruti eVX will be produced domestically and exported to Europe and Japan. The new skateboard platform, which Suzuki and Toyota co-developed, will serve as the foundation for the electric SUV.
The new eVX will have a length of about 4.3 meters. In terms of the battery itself, 48 kWh and 60 kWh battery packs are probably available. Furthermore, the model is probably going to have a 500 km stated range on a single charge. It is projected that the 60 kWh battery pack will have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.
2. Hyundai Creta EV
Hyundai, a South Korean automaker, plans to introduce the Creta EV in the first half of 2019. It is anticipated that the electric SUV will be on display during the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The projected commencement of production is mid-2024. The next electric SUV will look identical to the Creta ICE model, with the exception of closed-off grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and alloy wheels with aerodynamic designs. A touchscreen infotainment system, updated instrument cluster, a dual-screen configuration, and a new steering wheel are among the interior upgrades.
The 45 kWh battery with electric motors used in the most recent generation Kona EV deployed abroad will be a feature of the Hyundai Creta EV. A maximum torque of 255 Nm and a peak output of 138 bhp are expected to be produced by the front-mounted electric motor. Hyundai is anticipated to launch the Creta EV in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
