Supported models and reliability
With the release of the Series 6, Apple Watch acquired the capability to detect blood oxygen, and it has been a feature of every Apple Watch model since. That is, until Apple was compelled to remove the feature from the most recent Apple Watch models starting on January 18, 2024 due to a legal dispute with Masimo.

Look for the red and blue revolving circle icon on your Apple Watch (bought before January 18, 2024) or ask Siri to start “Blood Oxygen.”
