Bangladesh is in crisis and immediate help is needed. Helping Hand for Relief and Development has been making efforts towards supporting in every way they can. Although Bangladesh has experienced consistent GDP growth of 5%-7%, the country remains extremely susceptible to the impacts of climate change, regularly enduring devastating natural disasters such as floods and cyclones. The severe flooding in August 2024 has had a devastating impact on 5 million people, including 2 million children, exacerbating socioeconomic vulnerabilities.
Extensive flooding has resulted in the submersion of 311,419 hectares of land, causing significant disruptions to education for 175,000 students as over 7,000 schools have been forced to close. The ongoing civil unrest has caused even more disruption to businesses and infrastructure, making life even more difficult for low-income families. HHRD is in immediate need of $300,000+ to fund critical life-saving interventions.
