A brand-new Gemini AI side panel for Gmail is being released by Google; it helps with email writing and thread summarization. Additionally, the business is integrating the Gemini side panel into Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The new features were just released by Google, who made the announcement at its I/O developer conference last month. The conference was mostly focused on the company’s upcoming AI services.
You can now use Gemini in Gmail to get suggested email responses or assistance with email drafting thanks to the new connection. Additionally, you may use your Google Drive files or emails to ask queries and retrieve specific information.
Google points out that you can ask your own questions in Gmail, even though Gemini will offer suggestions to get you started. You may ask Gemini, for example, “What was the PO number for my agency?” Another question to pose is, “How much did the company spend on the most recent marketing event?”
Customers of Google Workspace with a Gemini Business or Enterprise add-on, a Gemini Education or Education Premium add-on, or a Google One AI Premium subscription are the only ones who can use these capabilities.
The Gemini side panel in Docs can assist you with idea generation, information summarization, and article creation. Additionally, material based on other files can be produced. Gemini can assist you with creating new slides, personalized pictures, and summarizing presentations in Slides.
You can manage and arrange your data in Sheets with the use of the Gemini panel. Additionally, you can produce formulas, make tables, and receive assistance with certain tasks. The Gemini panel in Drive provides rapid project data and document summaries.
Similar to the Gmail Gemini panel, using the features in Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive requires you to be a premium Gemini member.
Google is the latest tech giant to add generative AI features to its popular, everyday apps and services. Earlier this year, Meta brought its AI chatbot to Instagram and WhatsApp, while Apple recently announced that it’s bringing generative AI features to its apps and services, including Siri, Messages, Mail and Notes.
