From Living on Stale Bread to Travelling the World: Entrepreneurship with Andrew James
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are today?
I risked everything to be an entrepreneur. I was living in Australia with nothing. I’d dropped out of college. I had no idea what I was doing at the age of 19. I was so broke, I was living off stale bread. I’d go to the supermarket at 5PM when they discounted that day’s bread and scrape together my coins to buy some. I lived like that for a while. Overcoming that was incredibly challenging. I’m glad I didn’t give up, but it wasn’t easy.
What’s an important lesson you’ve learned along this journey?
No one reacted well to me saying I was dropping out of college to live in Australia and learn about entrepreneurship. They thought I was crazy. I spent a lot of time with my mentor in Australia working through that. He taught me that if you want results, you can’t listen to people who don’t have what you want. I really started paying attention to who I was listening to and who I was taking advice from, which pushed me to develop a more positive mindset about my choices and my future.
Is there anything exciting you’re working on that you’d like to share?
I’m launching a new software company. My amazing team and I are going to help people all over the world earn money in a new way online to break out of the 9-5 rut. I’m thrilled with how things are going so far and can’t wait for this next chapter.
