Extra-Sybaritic Mercedes-Maybach S680 Nordic Glow Is An S-Class
Any Mercedes-Maybach product is naturally exclusive, but at Pebble Beach, Mercedes is introducing an even more exclusive model. The S680 Edition Nordic Glow, which is limited to just 50 pieces and is entirely destined for the American market, is modeled after the Northern Lights and has unique interior and exterior details from Mercedes’s Manufaktur individualization department.
The Mercedes-Maybach S680 is a luxurious limousine in and of itself. With a wheelbase of 133.7 inches and a length of just under eighteen feet, it is the most luxurious S-class available, boasting a smooth twin-turbocharged V-12 engine. Peak power is 621, and it can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. However, a Maybach’s physical performance is almost meaningless.
Rather, the emphasis of this car is on opulence and presence. When it glides on the red carpet with its two-tone paint job and 21-inch wheels that are designed like champagne flutes, the Edition Nordic Glow lives up to the former. The painting, which combines a brilliant white base with a deep metallic violet top layer, is meant to resemble the sight of the aurora borealis above a wintry northern terrain.
Inside, things are much cozier, beginning with a four-seat arrangement that resembles first class travel. It’s an apparatus tailored for individuals who would rather have their destination driven to them, complete with deep pile carpets, leather-lined foldable rear seat tables, a refrigerator, and champagne glasses with the Maybach logo. The Nordic Edition’s take on these opulent settings includes dark oak with a herringbone pattern and grey nappa leather.
With its throngs of affluent people, Pebble Beach is a great venue for Mercedes to unveil its newest Maybach vehicle. In addition to being quickly sold out of the 50-piece limited edition, the Nordic Glow is a great method to showcase the Manufaktur division’s customizability. The Maybach edition is no longer available for the new G-class, but you may still order one with personalized features to fit your needs.
The $339,000 S680 Edition Nordic Glow is anticipated to reach dealers later in the year. That’s almost three times the cost of a typical S-class, but then again, a black Mercedes S-class’s allure is partly its invisibility. The purpose of the Maybach Edition Nordic Glow is to turn heads, much like people would when they view the Northern Lights.
