The global box office revenue for “Dune: Part Two,” which is around $700 million, is still flowing in.
After eight weeks of release, director Denis Villeneuve’s epic science fiction film has brought in $276 million in North America and $419 million abroad. This brings its total earnings to $695.8 million worldwide. In the post-COVID era, this threshold is impressive; only five films in 2023, eight in 2022, and five in 2021 were able to surpass the $700 million milestone.
“Dune 2” is currently the highest-grossing film of 2024 both domestically and internationally. Germany ($39.7 million), Australia ($22.5 million), China ($48.5 million), France ($42.6 million), and the United Kingdom ($48.8 million) are the largest markets outside of the United States and Canada.
“Dune: Part Two” has made significantly more money than its 2021 predecessor, “Dune,” which brought in $433 million and debuted concurrently on HBO Max. A-list cast headlined by Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, positive word-of-mouth, and interest in Imax and other premium formats are just a few of the reasons for the sequel’s remarkable longevity. It also helps that the sequel is limited to big-screen viewing, unlike the first. “Dune: Part Two” was co-financed and co-produced by Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment. The film’s production cost $190 million, and it added another $100 million or more for worldwide promotion.
