Bryan Bertino is the director of the first home invasion film, which set the stage for a sequel and, now, a reboot trilogy later this year. Without him, The Strangers series would not exist.
The upcoming Vicious, starring Dakota Fanning (The Watchers), marks Bertino’s (The Dark and the Wicked) own comeback to the horror genre.
The date of Vicious’ release, August 8, 2025, has already been set. To begin with, there will be a star role for Devyn Nekoda (Scream VI).
The cast of Bryan Bertino’s Vicious, a Paramount production, has also added Kathryn Hunter (Poor Things), Mary McCormack (The West Wing), Rachel Blanchard (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Klea Scott (Millennium), and Emily Mitchell (Ordinary Angels).
“The plot follows a young woman who must spend the night fighting for her existence as she slips down a disturbing rabbit hold contained inside a mysterious gift from a late-night visitor.”
The film, an Atlas Independent production, will be directed by Bryan Bertino, who also penned the script. Richard Suckle produces alongside executive producer Melinda Whitaker.
