Defender SUV Debuted with Upgraded Features and a New V8 Engine

The Defender SUV, which retails for ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom) in India, was introduced on Monday with a number of significant upgrades. The 2025 model of the premium SUV features a new V8 engine in addition to the previous turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines. The Defender 90, Defender 110, and Defender 130 are the three models of the premium SUV that come with the new engine. Compared to the entry-level model, the new V8 SUVs are over 35 lakh more expensive.

Defender: New V8 engine enhances power

The Defender SUV will now have a new and more potent V8 P425 5.0-liter gasoline engine that can produce up to 425 horsepower and 610 Nm of peak torque. A 2.0-liter and a 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine are also available for the SUV. The top-tier SUV model, the Octa, is also available and has a 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine. It has 626 horsepower and 750 Nm of maximum torque, making it the most potent engine in the Defender SUV family in India.

Defender: Key feature updates

In addition to a more potent engine, the 2025 Defender SUV will come with revised and new features. The cabin has been renovated with new Windsor leather seats, climate-controlled seats in the second row with winged headrests, 14-way heated and cooled front seats with memory functions, carpet mats with a Nubuck edge, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, among other features.

A 3D surround camera, a sliding panoramic sunroof, a Meridian sound system, a 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a refrigerator compartment at the front center console are also planned for the new Defender SUV. Captain seats are installed in the second row of the Defender 130 to facilitate easy access to the third row.

Defender: Design updates

The Defender SUV’s exterior appearance has been modified with additional features. Among other things, these consist of 20-inch all-terrain Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels, a black contrast roof, and matrix LED headlights with DRLs. The SUV also has a tail door that soft-closes.

Defender: Enhanced performance

Terrain Response and Configurable Terrain Response, which claim to enable customize settings to tackle difficult roads, will now be available on the new Defender SUV. For a better ride, it also has adaptive dynamics and electronic air suspension.
