Colby Covington formally charged George Masvidal for his alleged altercation at the Miami Steakhouse on Monday. As MMA Fighting reported Thursday, “Chaos” issued a statement to Miami Beach police to take the case further.
The former interim welterweight champion reported damage to his Rolex watch worth about $ 15,000, valued at $ 90,000.
The alleged incident took place at a sinful steakhouse in South Beach. According to the report, Covington claimed to have identified Masvidl with the sound of his voice and hair, which was sticking out of his hoodie.
“Gamebread” was wearing a surgical mask at the time of the alleged attack and was told, “You must not have talked about my children.”
Police say Masvidal suffered injuries to his right arm and toes, including stitches that were photographed for evidence. Covington, meanwhile, suffered a fractured tooth and a scratch on his left wrist.
Masvidal was in police custody Wednesday night, as he was charged with aggravated battery with a mask and criminal mischief. He was released on 15K bond on Thursday morning.
But if convicted, the 37-year-old veteran could face up to 15 years in prison, as the increased battery is considered a second-degree crime in Florida.
