At Rs. 72.90 Lakh, The New BMW 5 Series LWB Was Introduced In India

BMW India unveiled the eagerly anticipated 5 Series LWB, which retails for Rs. 72.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and can already be reserved online and at dealerships. India is the first RHD market to receive the variant with a longer wheelbase.

The new 5 Series costs about Rs. 3 lakh less than the E-Class LWB, but it doesn’t come with a diesel version—at least not at first. It is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a mild hybrid system, and it is available in 530Li grade. The highest torque produced is 400 Nm, while the maximum power output is 258 horsepower.

BMW says that the eight-speed automatic transmission, which is connected to the powertrain and only transfers power to the rear axle, will enable acceleration from zero to hundred kilometers per hour in just 6.5 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The internal space has expanded due to the longer wheelbase and rear doors.

The regular 5 Series and the design details are nearly identical. Sharp-looking matrix LED headlights, an illuminated kidney grille, 18-inch alloy wheels with a 19-inch option, and a M Sport body kit with more aggressive bumpers are a few of the highlights. As one may assume, the cabin of the ordinary 5 Series and i5 shares many features and technologies.

The features list includes a 12.3-inch instrument console, four-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, an 18-speaker audio system, an iDrive rotary controller, drive modes, wraparound LED tail lights, six USB-C charging ports, leather seat upholstery, multiple airbags, and much more. The 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and in-car connected tech.

The rear passengers benefit from an optional rear entertainment screen, a wireless charging capability, a fixed glass sunroof, and a separate touchscreen. The dimensions of the BMW 5 Series LWB are 5,175 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,520 mm in height, and 3,105 mm in wheelbase length. The sedan is the biggest vehicle in its class and the second after the 3 Series Grand Limousine to have a LWB makeover.
