Arriving Summer 2026: DC’s Supergirl Movie
For the next two summers, DC and its Kryptonians are going to be in charge. Supergirl: World of Tomorrow, which opens in theaters on June 26, 2026, will coincide with James Gunn’s Superman, which is presently in production with an intended July 11, 2025 release date.
Milly Alcock portrays the titular role in Craig Gillespie’s (Cruella) film House of the Dragon. The release date and a number of other future movies were revealed by Warner Bros. on Tuesday. Those consist of:
- Mortal Kombat 2 on October 24, 2025
- Drew Hancock’s Companion on January 10, 2025
- Zach Cregger’s Weapons on January 16, 2026
- The animated Margie Claus on November 5, 2027
There’s also a New Line horror film on March 27, 2026; a family event film on December 18, 2026; a New Line movie on December 25, 2026; and a Warner Bros Pictures Animation/Locksmith film on March 26, 2027. According to reported.
Naturally, Supergirl is the most significant since it is the second DC movie from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe to be released on a formal date. It is a reimagining of the eponymous 2022 television series by Tom King.
“Superman was sent to Earth and he was raised by incredibly loving parents, whereas Carol was in a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet and lived there for the first 14 years of her life,” Gunn said in the announcement of the project with Safran back in 2023. She was in a terrible predicament, seeing the deaths of everyone around her. She is therefore a much more flawed and tougher Supergirl.
