Actress Ann Hay was seriously injured in a fiery car crash at a home in Mar Vista on Friday, sources told NBCLA.
Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said the crash was reported shortly before 11 a.m. in the 1700 block of South Walgrove Avenue.
Police said the driver was speeding down a residential street and plowed 30 feet into a house. The Mini Cooper involved in the crash was speeding and possibly struck a curb before being launched more than two feet through the front yard and into the house.
The homeowner was in the backyard at the time of the accident and was not injured.
A neighbor described what he saw after the driver was freed.
“There was smoke in the house. I think they used a crane to move the car to get the driver out. It was crazy.”
Humphrey said the car stopped at a 738-square-foot, two-story house built in 1952.
The crash caused structural compromise and a fire, Humphrey said.
“It took firefighters 65 minutes to enter, contain and fully extinguish the heavily damaged structure and rescue an adult woman inside the vehicle, who was transported by LAFD paramedics to an area hospital in critical condition,” Humphrey said.
