Netflix Obtains OTT Rights
The global streaming of “Aadujeevitham” will commence on July 19th thanks to rights acquired by Netflix. Based on a novel by Benyamin, and directed by Blessy, the movie stars Prithviraj Sukumaran as migrant worker Najeeb Muhammad, who is stuck in the Middle East. Acclaimed for its captivating storyline and breathtaking visuals, “Aadujeevitham” is expected to strike a chord with viewers throughout the globe for its depiction of tenacity and survival.
From Book to Movie: Aadujeevitham’s Journey
“Aadujeevitham” is an adaptation of Benyamin’s critically praised 2008 Malayalam novel that follows Najeeb’s transformation from a Malayali laborer to a goat herder in a secluded Saudi Arabian farm. After reading the book in 2008, director Blessy started work on the project in 2009. Blessy persevered in the face of financial difficulties, obtaining production in 2015 with the help of producers Jimmy Jean-Louis and Steven Adams. The film’s narrative is given depth by A.R. Rahman’s evocative score.
Filming Difficulties and Successes
From March 2018 to July 2022, there were six stages of filming, taking place in places like Kerala, India, the Sahara in Algeria, and the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. Due to COVID-19, the filming was put on hold for 70 days in the Jordanian desert, but it concluded victorious on July 14, 2022.
