A Journey of Resilience: Darwin Del Fabro Talks Healing, Music, and Storytelling

Interviewer: Darwin, after nearly two years away from acting, music, and dance, you’re returning not just as a performer but as a storyteller. What led you to take this break?
Darwin Del Fabro: I needed to hit the reset button. Stepping away wasn’t just about my career—it was about my personal transformation as well. I was going through a significant period of physical and emotional change, and I knew I needed to realign with myself. Writing became my way of regaining control over my narrative and rediscovering my voice.
Interviewer: You mention writing as a new creative outlet. Can you tell us more about how this shift influenced your artistic journey?
Darwin Del Fabro: Absolutely. While my past as an artist remains a part of me, I’ve learnt that I am now the one shaping my own story instead of letting it shape me. This realisation led me to explore projects centred on identity and self-acceptance. I’ve been working on a psychological thriller set in Brazil and a play inspired by Lili Elbe’s 1933 diaries. Both projects intertwine my personal experiences with broader themes of visibility, transformation, and empowerment.
Interviewer: You’ve also spoken about the societal perceptions of identity. How has that influenced your return to the stage?
Darwin Del Fabro: Identity is complex, and it’s something that is often dictated by external perspectives. I’ve grown weary of constantly having to explain who I am, even though I am immensely proud of it. This sense of wanting to break free from imposed limitations fuels my creative pursuits. With four months of recovery behind me following surgery, I’m embracing both personal and artistic freedom in a way that feels truer than ever.
Interviewer: Your upcoming performance at 54 Below is highly anticipated. What can audiences expect from “A Musical Journey”?

Darwin Del Fabro: I’m beyond excited! This show is a celebration of my journey, featuring music from my latest four albums and a rich blend of English and Portuguese songs that highlight my roots. I’ll be exploring the vibrant American musical landscape while also paying tribute to the legendary Brazilian singer Elis Regina. From Irving Berlin’s timeless works to the classics of Tom Jobim, this show will be a heartfelt expression of identity, culture, and the transformative power of music. This will also be the first time I have stepped onto a stage to sing after a two-year pause, making it an incredibly special and emotional moment for me.
Interviewer: That sounds incredible. Can you share the details of the event for those eager to experience it?
Darwin Del Fabro: Of course! “A Musical Journey” will take place at 54 Below in NYC on May 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM, with doors opening at 5:30 PM. It’s a deeply personal performance, and I can’t wait to share this moment with the audience.
Interviewer: Darwin, thank you for sharing your story. Your journey of reinvention and authenticity is truly inspiring.
Darwin Del Fabro: Thank you. I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with audiences in a new and meaningful way. I hope this performance resonates with people on a deep level, just as it does for me.
