2025 Mazda BT-50 Facelift Will Include Bigger Screens And A Sportier New Face
Mazda has unveiled the redesigned third-generation BT-50 truck, which adds some practical safety features along with an improved appearance and level of luxury. The mid-size truck receives a cosmetic redesign for 2025 that brings the design a little more in line with Mazda’s cars and SUVs and incorporates a hint of the brand’s Kodo soul of motion design language.
The most obvious change to the look is at the front, where a new grille and reworked bumper with a Mazda “air curtain” to save fuel consumption frame LED headlights. Redesigned LED lights are paired with a ridged tailgate design on the back. Now, the largest Mazda emblems we’ve ever seen are on the front and rear.
To keep things interesting, Mazda has also added three new paint colors: Sailing Blue Metallic, Geode White Pearl, and Red Earth Metallic, bringing the total number of paint choices to seven. The new alloy wheel designs finish off the exterior upgrades, while the Red Earth Metallic is only available on the BT-50.
Inside, new screens
Turning now to the inside of the BT-50, it has a new 9-inch infotainment system that provides the cabin a more contemporary appearance. It also has physical volume and tuning dials, which are a feature that is becoming less common but is always welcomed. The Multi-Information Display, or instrument cluster screen, has expanded from 4.2 inches to 7.0 inches and can now display real-time vehicle data like as drive modes, tire pressure, steering angles, and diff lock status.
The dashboard, console lid, and door trims have all been updated with new materials by Mazda’s design team, who has also paid attention to the little things. Some trims have even gone from brown to black leather. The BT-50 moniker is embroidered onto the front headrests of flagship versions, which go one step further with optional synthetic suede and black and terracotta Maztex leather seat trimmings.
Improved Security Features
Mazda has taken advantage of the facelift to even the playing field. The list of standard features now includes adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic brake, and traffic sign recognition. New stereo cameras up front quadruple the truck’s field of vision. At intersections, the auto emergency braking system can now identify motorcyclists and pedestrians, and the lane-keeping technology no longer requires line markings to identify the edge of the road.
Mazda is introducing a new line of Genuine Accessories in Australia that were created especially for the local market in collaboration with “trusted suppliers.”
Carryover Powertrains
The 2025 BT-50’s engine options are the same as those of its predecessor’s. Customers have a choice between a more powerful 3.0-liter version with 187 horsepower (140 kW / 190 PS) and a 1.9-liter turbodiesel engine with 148 horsepower (110 kW / 150 PS). Depending on the model, both engines can be paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission to send power to either the back or all four wheels.
Cost and Accessibility
The 2025 BT-50 is anticipated to launch in Australia in the first quarter of 2025; more information about the final specifications and pricing will be disclosed closer to the launch date.
