ZEEKR launches the 007 car, which has a 540-mile range for less than $30K and more than 50,000 pre-orders
ZEEKR has officially introduced the 007 with some notable in-house innovations, forty days after formally revealing its first-ever sedan and fourth EV model. Chinese shoppers have been lined up to place their 007 pre-orders—more than 50,000 to be exact—starting at a price below $30,000.
If ZEEKR isn’t already familiar to you, you might be soon, as the Geely-owned electric vehicle manufacturer is pushing its brand into Europe in addition to China. The company’s current lineup includes the flagship 001 shooting brake, the 001 FR high-performance variation, the 009 multipurpose vehicle (MPV), and the ZEEKR X SUV, which was just released.
Although experts have driven the 001 and 009 and were fairly impressed from the start, the biggest buzz surrounding the relatively new brand has probably come from ZEEKR’s early achievements and future goals.
ZEEKR’s models were aimed at certain EV market niches up until recently. However, the carmaker started showing off a new electric vehicle (EV) called the 007 in early November 2023. This was the model’s debut sedan and its first mass-market offering.
ZEEKR launched 007 pre-orders in China two weeks later. It simultaneously filed for a US IPO and started teasing a tech day where it would introduce its own proprietary battery technology, which would make its premiere in none other than the 007 car.
Before it enters other international markets, ZEEKR formally unveiled the 007 sedan today in China, and based on what we’ve heard, it looks like a surefire hit.
ZEEKR introduces the 870km-range Long Range 007
The 007 has reportedly made its official debut in China, according to reports from ZEEKR today. It will be shipped to the 51,569 clients who have already placed pre-orders and completed their purchases. The 007 sedan is not only ZEEKR’s first mass-market EV, but it also has a number of brand-firsts.
It is the first vehicle, for example, to use an integrated mega-casting aluminum body at the rear end, with a torsional stiffness of 43,500 N·m/deg. The sedan is also the first to come equipped with ZEEKR’s newly designed in-house audio system and ADAS, which consists of five millimeter-wave radars, 12 HD cameras, and one LiDAR sensor.
ZEEKR’s revolutionary lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and battery packs, which can replace 500km (311 miles) of range in 15 minutes on a DC fast charger, are also debuting on the 007’s 800V platform, as we reported in December. The Standard Range variant of this battery technology, which gives 688 km (428 miles) of CLTC range on a single charge, was revealed by ZEEKR today.
ZEEKR will sell a long-range version of the new car using Qilin batteries from CATL for people who want additional range. A staggering 870 km (540 miles) of CLTC range is promised by that model. The 007 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 2.84 seconds, according to ZEEKR.
According to ZEEKR, the Standard Range model will come in five distinct trim levels and start at a price below $30,000. Three AWD models with two motors each and two with one are included in this. The following is their price:
Just One Motor
- RMB $29,475, or 209,900
- RMB 32,425 ($229,900)
Two-Motor
- RMB 32,425 ($229,900)
- $36,655 RMB 259,900 RMB 299,900 ($42,300)
It is anticipated that deliveries to China will start on January 1, 2024.
