Queen Elizabeth’s star-studded Platinum Jubilee gig lineup revealed
Queen Elizabeth II is set to complete her 70 years on the throne with a huge concert where the biggest stars from around the world are set to perform.
The mega gig – called the “Platinum Party at the Palace” – will take place at Buckingham Palace in London on June 4 and will last about two and a half hours.
Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Rod Stewart, and Duran Duran are just some of the iconic names expected to grace the royal stage.
Elton John will also attend the ceremony, however, his performance will be pre-recorded as he is currently on a tour of Europe.
Active members of Queen will team up with “American Idol” star Adam Lambert to debut the show, before soul legend Diana Ross closes it out with a mix of her biggest hits.
Queen guitarist Brian May revealed how much the performance would mean to him after the legendary band performed on the roof of Buckingham Palace at the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002.
“We are delighted to be invited again after twenty years of playing The Queen’s grand Golden Jubilee,” he said.
“Then there came a moment when I thought… Where can you go after Buckingham Palace’s roof? Well… you’ll see!!!” May added after the famous song from “God Save the Queen” more than two decades ago.
In his upcoming performance celebrating Her Majesty’s long reign, Ross featured several exchanges with the royal throughout his illustrious career.
The show-stopping spectacle will feature three stages and 3D projections across the face of the palace.
The three-stage setup will also see performances by British musicians Ella Eyre, Craig David, Mabel, Elbow, George Ezra, Mimi Webb, Sam Ryder, Jacques Jones, Celeste and Sigala. Opera singing sensation Andrea Bocelli is also set to take to the stage, along with Nile Rodgers.
The evening will also feature guest appearances by David Attenborough, David Beckham, Stephen Fry and Julie Andrews. There will also be a special performance of The Royal Ballet.
British legend Rod Stewart said he was “able to join” the Queen on this special occasion.
“He has shown the world that he is a special person and how lucky we are to have him. This will be a momentous occasion,” he said.
Her Majesty’s love for music will also be remembered, as special appearances from composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda are guaranteed to pull out all the stops.
Stars from the cast of “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Hamilton,” “Six,” “The Lion King,” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will also take to the stage.
