Here’s everything Toyota has changed for the manual supra
After years of waiting and begging from enthusiasts, Toyota has finally added a manual transmission option to the A90 Supra. Available in three trims with a stick shift, the 2023 Supra also has a number of suspension and driveline changes that Toyota says will make the car better than ever.
Toyota says the six-speed manual gearbox is specifically tuned for use with the car’s BMW-source twin-turbo B58 inline-six. From 2023, that means it’s available in two inline-six trims, 3.0 and 3.0 premium. There is also a third, new trim for 2023 called the A91-MT. Available with sticks only, it is limited to 50o units only and comes with 3.0 premium plus tan leather-trimmed seats, car teaser announcement, red strut tower bar and everything in unique red badges shown in the Alcantara shift knob. The base four-cylinder supra will remain automatic only.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The clutch is a newly engineered piece with a large friction area and a reinforced diaphragm spring. Toyota’s Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) system is onboard, which, when activated, acts as a rev-matching feature. The manual supras also get a lower final drive ratio, jumping from 3.15 to 3.46 with a sluggish start and low in-gear acceleration.
Inside the manual supra, you’ll find a rebuilt center console that has been specially modified to ensure easy moving and adequate clearance so that you don’t hit the hand against the dash. The weight, size and action of the knob have also been taken into consideration to minimize the effort required to shift.
According to Toyota, all 2023 Supras have a number of suspension and chassis improvements to improve road balance and ride comfort. While both shock absorbers and electrically assisted steering have been re-tuned, all 3.0 models now come with active variants as standard. On the software side, the 2023 Supras has got a new feature called Hairpin +, which allows more wheelspin to bend out sharply at a height of more than five degrees. Traction and stability control systems have also been recalibrated.
The price of the Manual 2023 Toyota Supra will be revealed later this summer. We don’t expect the third pedal to be a more expensive option than the 2022 car’s $ 51,640 MSRP. Delivery is scheduled to begin later this year.
