Taylor Swift joins cast of director David O. Russell’s next film

Taylor Swift has been cast in chief David O. Russell’s next film at New Regency.

She joins A-list ensemble that includes Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek and Zoe Saldana.

Russell, the producer behind the Oscar-winning movies “American Hustle” and “Silver Linings Playbook,” is directing the film from his own script. It’s his first feature since 2015’s “Satisfaction” with Jennifer Lawrence.

New Regency declined to comment, as did reps for Swift.

The title of the film, just as plot title , have been kept under wraps. It previously finished production, with Disney’s twentieth Century Studios releasing the film on a yet-to-be-determined date.

Swift was particularly prolific during the pandemic, churning out two acclaimed albums, “Folklore” and “Evermore,” back to back. The upcoming project marks her first big screen part since “Cats,” the musical adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long-running stage show.

In the disastrous screen version — co-starring Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson and Jason Derulo — Swift depicted the striking and cheeky cat named Bombalurina. She additionally co-composed the song “Beautiful Ghosts,” one of only a handful few memorable moments of the whole production.

With regards to selecting film roles, the songstress likes herself a good ensemble. Quick made her film debut in the 2010 romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day” close by Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper and Taylor Lautner.
