The much anticipated 5-door Thar will make its public debut on August 15, 2024, as confirmed by Mahindra & Mahindra.
The new five-door Thar is now being produced in series by the firm, and unofficial reservations for the SUV are now being accepted at numerous Mahindra showrooms throughout India. The new Thar, which will use a ladder-frame chassis, will borrow several features from the well-liked Scorpio N.
When compared to the present three-door Thar, the new five-door model’s design has undergone some modest changes. It features a redesigned front grille, longer rear doors to suit the increased wheelbase, newly designed alloy wheels, rear door handles that are now mounted on the door frame, and LED projector headlamps with C-shaped LED daytime running lights.
There is a significant improvement to the interior, which includes several high-end amenities and cutting-edge technologies. A redesigned center console and a dual-tone black and white dashboard will be features of the cabin. It will also include a panoramic sunroof, power-operated and ventilated front passenger and driver seats, and new seat upholstery.
A 10.25-inch floating touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, six airbags as standard, Level 2 ADAS technology, automated climate control, and a fully digital instrument dashboard are among the other noteworthy features. It will have three engines under the hood: a 1.5L diesel, a 2.2L diesel, and a 2.0L gasoline.
Presently, the 2.2L mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine generates 175 PS and 400 Nm, while the 2.0L mStallion four-cylinder petrol engine generates 200 PS and 380 Nm. Another option is the 1.5L diesel engine, which can produce 300 Nm and 117 PS. The gearbox options will include a six-speed torque converter AT or a six-speed manual.
