Mercedes-Benz redesigned the EQA, its entry-level electric compact crossover, in early 2023, giving it equipment, style, and other upgrades similar to the larger EQB. The updated EQA now has aero-spec bumpers, a 3D light signature at the rear, a noticeable horizontal light bar, and a front grille with the iconic star pattern that sets it apart from other Mercedes models.
At a price of Rs. 66 lakh (ex-showroom), it has now been introduced in India, and customer deliveries will start in January 2025. It goes alongside the EQB, EQE, and EQS in the brand’s electrified lineup. The electric small crossover competes against the BMW iX1 and Volvo XC40 Recharge in India.
New trim elements on the dash and doors with illuminated Mercedes insignia, a three-spoke steering wheel with capacitive controls, and dual 10-inch screens with the most recent version of the MBUX operating system are all included inside the cabin. The EQA’s screens now include customizable options and have simpler menus and graphics.
The voice-recognition algorithm has also been improved to respond better to various dialogue styles. Thanks to enhanced aerodynamics, rolling-resistance tires, and a new range-extender mode that extends driving range by shutting off unnecessary features like the air conditioning and display, the EQA is also more efficient than the previous global model.
In the domestic market, the Mercedes-Benz EQA’s EQA 250+ grade has a WLTP-rated range of 560 km thanks to a front-wheel drive electric motor with 188 horsepower and 385 Nm and a 70.5 kWh battery pack. However, the smaller 66.5 kWh battery unit is what is sold in overseas markets for the EQA 250, EQA 300 4Matic, and EQA 350 4Matic.
Before reaching its maximum speed of 160 kmph, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.6 seconds with DC fast charging up to 100 kW. While a typical 11kW AC charger takes 7 hours and 15 minutes to replenish back to 100%, a fast charger can reach the 10 to 80 percent charge in just 35 minutes. A newly designed mono-multipurpose camera and an improved backup camera are now part of the EQA’s assistance systems.
